Rumors that a Trader Joe's grocery store will soon be locating in a former Borders bookstore appear to be exactly that - rumors.
Alison Mochizuki, director of public relations for California-based Trader Joe's, said the company has no plans in the next two years to open a store location in Sterling.
"At this point it's not in our two-year plan," she said today.
Internet rumors, particularly on popular social media sites Facebook and Twitter, have circulated in recent weeks that the popular grocer was set to sign a lease on the former Borders bookstore building in the Regal Plaza shopping center near CountrySide. Many online posters said they had spoken to store employees who had confirmed a new store location at the former bookstore.
When questioned as to whether Trader Joe's had future plans to open a location in Loudoun County, Mochizuki said the company does not comment on business or real estate practices, including potential new store sites.
