The Junior Woman’s Club of Loudoun is preparing to host its annual Prom Wishes event, held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Rust Library's teen center.

Prom Wishes is a boutique for local high school girls who would not otherwise be attending prom, due to the cost of purchasing prom attire. Prior to the event, the club will be collecting new and gently cared for formal dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry and unopened cosmetics. Collected items will be distributed during the Prom Wishes event free of charge to the girls who are planning on attending their high school prom.

This is the 11th year JWCL has held Prom Wishes—with the struggling economy and record high unemployment rates, the group believes this year more girls than ever will benefit from the event.

JWCL will collect new and gently used formal dresses for Prom Wishes through March.

Dress collection locations include:

Maggie's Closet, 601 Catoctin Circle, NE, Leesburg (drop off year-round)

Dulles South Community Center, 24950 Riding Center Dr., South Riding

Loudoun Valley Community Center, 320 W. School St., Purcellville

Sterling Community Center, 120 Enterprise St., Sterling

Claude Moore Community Center, 46111 Loudoun Park Ln., Sterling

Teen Center at Rust Library, 380 Old Waterford R., NW, Leesburg

South Riding Town Hall, South Riding (during March only)

Lifetime Fitness in Sterling, 44610 Prentice Drive., Sterling

Willpower Sports & Wellness, 20099 Ashbrook Pl., Suite 195, Ashburn

If you live outside of these areas, contact promwishes@jwcl.org to coordinate handoff.

Local business can help by donating prom attire such as dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry, cosmetics and so on, and/or prom-related door prizes like gift cards for hair, make-up and nail services or dinner for two. Any and all donations are appreciated.

Questions may be emailed to promwishes@jwcl.org or go to www.jwcl.org for additional details.

JWCL, a community service organization that has been active in assisting local charities and causes for more than 60 years, is recognized by the IRS as a 501(3)(c) tax-exempt organization. JWCL tax id: 54-6059797.
