Twenty years ago, people would come from Ashburn, Reston, Herndon and elsewhere to watch the Sterlingfest parade, said Ryan Berg, who grew up in Sterling. “They used to have football players who used to walk in the parade … I was in cross country and track and walked in it. Now, it's a little smaller,” Berg said at yesterday's event. His wife, Jamie, held their 7-month-old, Kyek, as they helped their kids, 5-year-old Laila and 3-year-old Dax, to gather the candy being thrown by the marchers.
