Green, who serves as construction supervisor for all Habitat projects, says the nonprofit currently is finishing up a third house at the Erin Peterson subdivision in St. Louis.
“Even in this heat, we’ve been out there and I’ll be doing it again tomorrow,” Green said, questioning whether he’s lost his mind. Work will start on the final two houses in the late fall and early winter, he said.
In eastern Loudoun, Habitat crews are finishing up a foreclosure rehab in CountrySide, and plans are to buy another. “This is the sixth [foreclosure] we’ve done,” Green said.
A big project also is in the works, although as yet only in the planning stage. “We’re in the early stages of planning and financing a multi-income development, probably a group of townhouses or condos, or something similar,” Green said.
The aim is to sell some of the homes at market price with the aim of raising funds to put toward more home construction and do some as normal Habitat projects with qualified homeowner partners.
