A Purcellville-area woman faces a felony charge following a sheriff’s office pursuit on Rt. 9 yesterday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office report, a deputy attempted to pull over a speeding car on Rt. 9 west of Hillsboro at approximately 10:45 a.m., June 24. The driver did not stop, but continued until pulling into a driveway. When the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated up the driveway, with the vehicle striking the deputy. The driver then ran into the home, the residence of a family member, where the deputy took her into custody.

Susanna M. Crane, 50, was charged with two counts of eluding law enforcement, a misdemeanor, and one count of felony assault on a law enforcement officer. She also was served a capias for prior failure to appear in court.

Today, she remained held without bond at the Loudoun Adult Detention Center.

According to court records, Crane previously was charged with assaulting a police officer during a 2010 altercation at a Norfolk hotel. In that case, the felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. She was found guilty and her sentence of 12 months in jail was suspended.
