The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office conducted two sobriety checkpoints Friday night and successfully pulled one suspected drunken driver off the road.
One checkpoint was held near the intersection of Promenade Drive and Belmont Ridge Road at the Lansdowne Town Center. A total of 224 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 10 drivers detained for screening. One driver was charged with DUI. Seven motorists were charged with driving without a license and two drivers were found to have suspended licenses.
At the checkpoint set up at Riverside Parkway and Diamond Lake Drive in Lansdowne, a total of 169 vehicles passed through and 14 drivers were screened. There were no arrests for DUI at that checkpoint.
