Leesburg Today is teaming up with the League of Women Voters of Loudoun County to provide Leesburg voters with a chance to learn more about the candidates for town council and mayor in advance of the Nov. 6 election.
A special candidate forum, in a meet-and-greet format, will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29 in the downstairs meeting room at the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center. Each candidate has been invited to meet with voters and answer their questions. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. each candidate will be invited to make brief introductory remarks.
“We have been happy to support the League with its candidate debates and forums in the past and this format should provide residents with a great opportunity to learn more about the candidates seeking their votes,” Leesburg Today Editor and Publisher Norman K. Styer said. “Too often, I’ve seen debate watchers leave the auditorium feeling that reporters or other panelists didn’t ask the question they wanted to hear. This should be a good opportunity for voters to find out where each candidate stands on the issues that are most important to them.”
Leesburg Today’s 2012 Election Guide featuring information on the candidates and other issues on the Nov. 6 will be published in the Oct. 26 issue of the newspaper.
