The Humane Society of Loudoun County has been experiencing the full brunt of kitten season during the last 8 weeks and now needs the help of the community.
HSLC has an over-supply of kittens and cats looking for loving, adoptive forever homes and are ready to assist with the cost of spaying or neutering prospective new pets.
HSLC currently has anywhere from 10-20 kittens in need of permanent homes. They also have wonderful older cats—one year and up—that are being overlooked in favor of the cute kittens.
If you are looking to add a new member or two to your family, young or old, HSLC has many adoption events coming up this month: July 14 at Petco and Unleashed in Sterling and July 21 at Unleashed in Sterling.
Foster families are also needed for short-term commitments to care for kittens and cats waiting for adoption. HSLC does not have a physical shelter and relies on foster families to keep the animals until their new adoptive home is found.
Each year kitten season comes in late spring and early summer, highlighting the need for pet owners and feral cat caretakers to get their cats spayed and neutered.
HLSC has several programs available to assist the community with this process, including a low-cost spay/neuter program to offer affordable surgery at many local veterinary offices.
HSLC also offers a feral cat spay/neuter program to provide support for members of our community that take care of outdoor cats. This program is free to the community.
Donations are always needed to help support all of HSLC's efforts.
