The State Police are continuing to investigate the Friday afternoon crash between a car and a bus on the Dulles Greenway.

At 3:20 p.m. Trooper D.P. King was called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in the toll road’s eastbound at the 5 mile marker near the Rt. 659 overpass. A 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling west when it ran off the left side of the road, spun around and crossed through the median. It then continued into the eastbound lanes and struck a commercial charter bus head-on. It was raining heavily at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Nissan has been identified as Frank Elliott, 60, of Walkersville, MD. He died at the scene. Two adult male passengers in his car were transported to Fairfax Inova Hospital for treatment of injuries described as life-threatening.

None of the 52 occupants on board nor the driver of the bus was injured. However, a check of the driver’s name revealed he was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service. Norman Pleasant, 48, of Washington, DC, was taken into custody and was held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The bus belonged to Detwiler Coach Lines and was en route to Reston from Harpers Ferry, WV.
