A man was arrested for assault and a series of other charges following a fight that took place while he and another driver were stuck in traffic caused by a car accident.

Deputies responded to Rt. 7 and CountrySide Boulevard around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, for report of a fight. The victim reported they were attempting to merge into traffic when he and another motorist became involved in a verbal altercation.

The second motorist, later identified as Walter T. Coy, 37, of West Virginia, stepped out of his vehicle when traffic stopped and allegedly attempted to puncture the tire of the victim’s vehicle with a tool. Coy then allegedly began banging on the victim’s window. He was located a short time later and a traffic stop was initiated.

Coy was charged with simple assault, destruction of property, disorderly conduct and reckless driving. He was released by a Loudoun Magistrate on his own recognizance.

What an idiot. I hope they throw the book at him. The commute from WV to wherever in NOVA must have been too much to deal with....

Hmmm... This person sounds a bit too dangerous to the public to have been seriously considered for ROR. Couldn't the prosecution have at least pushed for a few thousand dollars bail (like maybe $10K or so)?
